Howe Foot Holiday Cottages
News from our corner of the Cumbrian Lake District
News from Howe Foot in Lockdown
This year has certainly brought huge challenges and sadness to many all over the world and many life changing stories and lessons are to be learnt by us all. I feel I have to embrace this period to figure out what I can do next to help those lovely guests whom I am so missing here at Howe Foot this season. And to give them hope and something to look forward to amidst the anguish and fears that they are experiencing right now. We all need a positive state of mind to help us to stay strong and to protect ourselves from illness and mental health problems. Holidays in the future may be an issue for many, wondering whether it will be a safe thing to do and whether where they stay will be safe, clean and cared for. Many of my repeat guests love staying at Howe Foot quite simply because they know it will be beautiful and inviting, cosy and warm and that they will be welcomed with open arms. My challenge now is to add those little extra's to make Howe Foot even better than it was before!
First and foremost, Garden Cottage is to be THE most comfortable it has ever been! It has already seen a new slit window in the bedroom to keep out those draughts and bad weather and what is more, we are putting in under floor heating in the bedroom and replacing the existing rugs with lovely sumptuous wool mats that your feet will adore when stepping out of bed. These you can be sure of to be clean as they are just the perfect size for the washing machine. The slate floors under the mats and surrounding will be scrupulously clean for each and every guest. The underfloor heating will extend in to the passage and slightly in to the bathroom so there will be no part of the cottage that is not of an ambient temperature. Does Blissful come to mind??!!
Otley Beck is about to see curtains in the upstairs bedroom along with the existing venetian blind, all so very important for keeping out the strong sunshine from its south facing window. The curtains themselves are dreamy and with black out linings will mean that that all important lie in will be possible in the middle of the summer when it is often fantastically light at "Stupid O'clock!" Great for the likes of myself and my three energetic Pointers, but not for those taking a hard earned and well deserved holiday! Otley Beck is a dreamy and warm cottage winter and summer alike as many of you will know! But all the time, those little extras will be making their way in to there to add to its already comforting feel.
I am enjoying my daily walk with my gorgeous Pointers, Willow, Violet and Luna and the photos that I have put in the slideshow at the top of this page are all taken within a 3 mile radius of Howe Foot. It is wonderful just to be able to walk straight out on to Lowick Common and the views at this time of the year are stunning. We are totally blessed to live in such a wonderful corner of the Lake District and I am truly really looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the area in hopefully the not too distant future.
Look after yourselves, stay safe and please feel free to phone or email if you would like to discuss either an existing booking or to enquire about making a future booking.
