The Garden Cottage at Howe Foot is the perfect little retreat for your stay in whilst exploring the Lake District. Living in a traditional English cottage, with a roaring fireplace, sheep outside your window, and a big cosy bed, can't be beaten.

Everywhere you look is like a postcard, you can enjoy the views from your own little terrace that is right next to your cottage which contains chairs and a cool slate table. Running through the bottom of the land is a relaxing stream that is surrounded by perfectly manicured plants!

We have had the privilege of being the first paying guests in this beautifully restored cottage [Otley Beck Cottage]. Sue and Martin have done a wonderful job of creating a very relaxing place in which to stay, so much so that it is difficult to tear yourself away from all the wildlife and the tranquil setting! Sue and Martin are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Simply a fantastic place to unwind and explore the surrounding area. We have also experienced a brilliant week of hot weather and enjoyed bird-watching on many of the estuaries and nature reserves - it really is a special area for so many birds. Watch out for dippers in the beck. We just can't wait to return. Thank you Sue and Martin for an exceptional experience.

Otley Beck epitomises the William Morris quote: "Have nothing in your homes you do not know to be useful and believe to be beautiful" So many little touches which combine to give the best holiday-from-home. Despite Storm Doris which did its best to dampen our spirits we were more than happy to stay in, light the stove and listen to the rain on the roof. A happy holiday indeed!
